WAITEKAURI.

Hollis and party who have taken the Waite«auri mine and battery plant on tribute, have devoted several weeks to repairing the tramway, water-race, hoppers, &c, and the whole concern is now in thorough working order. They have also cleaned out and re- timbered j the 90ft level which was in a very dilapidated condition, and have started to break out a trial crushing of quarts from a block of Butler's reef which is still intact. Mr J. G. Ralph, has completed his new battery, and crushing operations were to be started this monuug. This plant is connected w:th the Young New Zealand mine, where there is an abundance of low grade dirt which was broken out from time to time by tributes, and which can now be treated at a very small cost. Goo twin aftd party, who purchased t\w Welcome mine a few weeks ago, have started work under most favourable circumstances. Thsy have already unearthed a small tode which will pay handsomely for working, and as their tniue is located within easy distance t>f the Young New Zealand tramway they \rill be able to treat their quartz tery cheaply at Ralphs battery
