Adelaide, March 4.- Crook, tho late manager of the Commercial Bank of South Australia, h.\s been admitted to bail. The Associated Banks have resolved to pass the notes of the Commercial Bank if the gold belonging to the bank, and now deposited in the two banks in Adelaide, is distributed among all the banks belonging to the Association. Public feeling is generally in favour of the resumption of business by the Commercial Bank. Sydney, March 4. — Addressing his constituents, Sir Patrick Jennings advocated a policy of oconomy in tho various branches of the public service, and also pronounced himself in favour of the imposition of direct taxation, in order to clear off the present deficiency in the revenue without delay. Sydnty, March 5. — It is not considered likely that the return of any of tho Ministry seeking re-election in consequence of assuming office will be opposed. Melbourne, March 5. — From approximate returns to hand, it appears that tittyfour suppoitors of the Coalition Ministry have been elected, againsfc eighteen declared Opposition members and fourteen Independents. All the Ministers have been elected with the exception of Mr James, Minister for Mines, who was defeated by a small majority. Among the prominent members elected are Messrs Harper and Madden (Constitutionalists), Patterson (Opposition), aud Wood and Lawlor (Independents). Among the defeated candidates are found Messrs Lundon, Duffy, Angus, Mackay, and Fincham. All candidates who stood on the labour ticket suffered defeat. The elections passed of quietly, no signs of disorder being visible at any of the polling places.
