THE HORSE RACE.
A laisge crowd assembled on the Aroha race course on Saturday evening last to witness the race for £60 between the following locally owned horses : — Mr D. J. Frazei's Tyntax, aged, lOst (Owner) ; Mr G. Graves' Catchem, aged, 9st (Munro, from Hamilton) ; Mr T. rierney's Auctioneer, aged, 9at (Hotchin) ; distance 2 miles on the flat Tue horaes were dcsputu.ied to a good start shortly after 5 o'clock, the hour named for the race, ami kept pretty well together for the first quarter of a mile, when Auctioneer and Catchem rapid!; drew away from Tyntax, who was never aifterwanls in the race at all, but gradually fell more and more behind, although both whip and spur were freely use.l by iris rider.
