Nbw Find. — The driva from low leve north <m the footwall portion of No. 1 reef, was continued up to Tuesday last, when the reef xrai fodiid M suddenly turn to the westward, tending to show that it would junction with the hangingwall portion as carried down in the winze. The manager Ims now started to drive on the hanging-wall portion, an 1 al* though this part of the reef U small at present, still it hns a very kindly appear* mice, showing some nice gold. Thirty feet of diiving should rench the junction referred to, and the reef is expected to rapi ly improve and increase in sisce aa the junction is «pj)ronched. A dl.n't has been made to break down the foot wall portion of No. 1 reef south from the Face in t .c low level j the reef here is a large body of quartz, and a satisfactory amount of gol lislo do seen in the SLoiu. Fiom the various workings during the month a good deal of stone has been saved, through which some nice gold is to be seen, this stone will be treated at the end of the month and should assist the returns. If the weather keeps fine it is intended to start work afresh in the Diamond Gully portion of tha company's property next week. ' Colokist. — Jeffrey and party hare just had a let them to break out' 3oo trucks more quartz fiom this mine, which continues to look well, and is yielding excellent crushing dirt. Lucky Hit. — A start was made this week to break out quartz from this mine. tSiLVEit Kino.-— Five tons of quartz from this claim was this week despatched per s.S. Koiuku to Tuauies, to be there treated by the La Monte smelter. The ha.M Is employed are engaged in breaking out another parcel of stone in the mine. The quartz in iliis claim looks encouraging both for silver and gold. Silver'Qubks. — In • his claim, winch is the property of the Battery Company, two hands are employed in breaking out a paicel of stone which will be sent to the Thames for treatment.
