New Find. — No 1 reef from surface where quartz is being broken out, has greatly improved in appearance during the past week, and is now yielding good crashing dirt. Several meu are still engaged in cutting down the reef in the winze from the Arizona level, the quartz still continues to look- well, and every fair gold is to be seen, Stoping on the run i of gold from the low level is stil} in progress, and from this parr- of the mine good crushing dirt is coming to hand. The No. 1 reef, which is being driven on south from the low level, is of a kindly appearance, aud shows of gold. Driving on No. 1 reof north from the winze from the low level is also being proceeded with, and a fair amount of gold can be seen every breaking down. The block being stoped on No. 2 reef above No. 1 level still contains to yield, j fair crushing dirt. Luoky Hit. — In this forfeited claim which was purchased by Firth's Battery Company on Tuesday last for £200, work is about to be resumed. Mr John Andrew from the Thames has been appointed mine manager. Mr Andrew was formerly manager of the Diamond Gully, and at one time we believe connected with the Moanatairi, Thames. Colonist, — Some excellent stone is coming to hand from this mine. The reef is being broken out from wall to wall. Silver Queen. — It is intended to get out a trial parcel of 10 tons from this claim to be treated at Thames as soon as pos*i'>le. Silver Ki*a. — This claim which 1 a so recently deen the subject of litigation has two men regularly employed on it opening up thd ground. 120 bags (about 7 tons) of stone from this claim lies awaiting the opening of the Tham 'S smelter, where it will be forwarded fo treatment as a test parcel, it being considered advisable, instead of forwarding it to Melbourne for treatment as at first intended, to have it forwarded to Thames instead, seeing that the furnace there is expected to be at work so soon.
