New Find. — The reef in the low level north has become, somewhat smaller the last jew days, hut is now again wi leniny out ; the reef in the level above showed similar characteristics whilst being driven upon. Fair gold, well distributed, is visible in the quartz being broken out. The reef in this drive is Wing broken down south, and is here a nice compact body of stone, showing gold freely. Stoning No. 1 reef above the Arizona level is being proceeded with, and the reef looks well. Dirt is still being broken out from the surface of No. 1 reef, which also shows very fair gold. This Company hare just concluded negotiations for the purchase of the Diamond Gully Company's ground, and we understand steps will be taken to re- * commence operations forthwith. Retorting will not take place till Monday. The mine are of late employing 20 head of stampers and 32 berdans in tailings. The quality of the gold shows considerable iuif rovement, and last week fetched £2 16s 5d per ounce, being 2s 5s per ounce more than has before been paid for same, thereby adiing nearly £50 to the receipts. Colonist. — Messrs Thos. Goldsworthy and party are breaking out quartz for the Battery Company under the recent agreement made, and have some 14 men on at work. Ten head of stampers are being employed on the quartz from this mine.
