The concert in aid of the Public Library funds come off in tbe Arolia Public Hall on Monday evening last. Tlie attendance was only fair. The following ■was the programme ; --Selections, Miss Waitixviigiit; song, "Castle in ttie air," Mr McCosisrie } sens?, " The soldier's tear," Airs Darby j song, " Ten minutes too liile," Mr Vajwe j' sung, " Death of Nelson," MrVowles ; sont>, "Treasures of the deep." Mrs Burgess; song, " C.irrissima," Mr Barnes ; song, " The light house keeper, 1 ? \lr Burgess ; song " Eileen Alannah," MissTier.iey ; song, "luesonsof N.5.W.," Mr -I. Comes. Part 2 — Selections, Mteses Farrell and >'cLatchy; sonir, 'Good-bye at the door," Mr Vowles ; song, *• Twickenham Ferry," Mrs Darby ; song, " T^he last rose of B<nnnier," A Mi9B Tierney ; duet, (comic), Messrs Whitehouse and Vause; song, " Baby mine," Miss Smitlie ; song, " Woman's resolution," Miss Bro\vri ; duet. " Love and war," Messrs Burgess and McCoskrie 5 song, " The Blacksmith's son," Mr Barnes; duet, ** ilopt beyond," Mrs Burgess and Mr Whitehouse; song, "The pilot," Mr J. Comes $ song, ** Our sailors on the sea," Mr Whitehouse. "God save the Queen." Mr Barnes' (Auckland), two songs were appreciated (especially'" Carrisima") and shewed him as possessed of a really fine voice. Mr Yause was as usual very successful in his comic song, and also in the duet with Mr Whitehouse, Miss Brown (Thames), received loa.l applause and an encore for her rendering of " Woman's Resolution," and responded by favouring the -company with ** M : ss Mulligan's Pianoforte." Mr Vowles (Thames), was vurnily applauded in both his songs. Mrs Burgess sang with much taste <l Treasures of the deep," which admiralty suited her contralto voice. The duet '♦ Hope Beyond," by Mrs Burgess and Mr Whitehonse, was the gem of the evening. Mr J. Comes was greeted with h-ng and load applause, for his patriotic song r< The sons of New South Wales." and responded to an enthusiastic encore. We may mention that this song is Mr Comes' own composition, and is a most creditable production. . Mr McCoskrie was well received in his song, and his duet with Mrs burgess (" Love and War") wag loudly and deservedly applauded. Mr Burgess appeared in excellent voice in " The Lighthouse Keeper." Miss Tierney, in her rendering of " The last rose of summer," dis}jliij*tid a re-iily good voice. Tae Misses Farreil and McLatchy played a doet villi much taste. Miss Wainwright played the grea^r part of the accompaniments in her u-ual excellent style.
