SPORTING.

The Postmaster-General having approved of the establishment of a post-oihco at Puni in connection with the Pukekohe Postoffice, the residents of the former locality, including South Mauku, should promptly advise their correspondents to addrees them accordingly. Subscribers to nouspapors and periodicals should also request the publishers or agents thereof to direct to them at Puni, so as to facilitate the delivery of the papers. The promptitude with which the postal authorities acted in giving postal accommodation to Puni is praiseworthy. It is not yet a month sinco the application for this convenience was made. The chief warder of the Auckland Gaol, Mr Rickerby, whose services have extended over a period of 16 years, has been transferred to the gaolership of Taranaki. During his long term of service at Mount Eden Mr Rickerby has executed his duties faithfully andconscientiously.,
