Monday last whs the day tixcl by Mr Henry Ridings, Bettirning Offlcei' for f.he municipal licensing divisions, far the reception of the nomination oF candidates lor Licensing Committees for the following districts : — Auckland East, Auckland North, Auckland South, Karan#ahape, Ponsoniiy, and Grafton. The nour fixed for the receipt of the nomination papers was noon, and some little Was expressed when it became known that the Licensed Victualler* iiad permitted the Temperance party to i*arry the election without a contest, no candidates being nominated in the pnblicans' interest.
