Auckland, January 26. The Onehunga Racing Club Summer Meeting, held on Saturday, was scarcely so successful as some previous gatherings held under the auspices of the Club. The attendance was only moderate, while, owing to bad management, the last race was not run till half-past seven o'clock, by which time the majority of the people had left the course. The following are the details of the running for the various events :—: — Maiden Plate of 25sovs.; for all horses that have never won an advertised race exceeding 20sovs. li miles. Mr A. McNicol's b q Worm, aged, 9st (Wattie) 1 Mr D. Wilson's b m Catch-'em-if-you-can, 9st (McLeod) 2 Mr 11. Johnston's b m Frivolity, 6 years, Bst 121b (J. McGec) 3 Burn's b m Mazurka, 4 years, Sst 111b (owner), Quick's eh q Barney, aged, 9st (Sutherland), Barr Brown's b q Larrikin, 4 years, Sst Jllb, and French's b f Luna, 3 years, 7stl3lb(Absolum), also ran. Worm, who was the favourite, got away first, and maintained his position throughout, winning easily by two lengths. Totalisator dividend, £2 11s. Williams) 2 Thesp.were the only starters, and Victoria had'the,call in the betting. It was a wellcontested ."race between tho pair, Mignonetto winning by a clear length. Totalisator dividend, £2 Ss. Hurdle Race Handicap of 45so vs., over nine flights of hurdles. Distance, 2 miles. Mr 11. Johnston's b m Frivolity, by Opawa, Gyrs, 9st (T. Hodson) ... 1 Mr E. D. ITalstead's b q Minuet, aged, 10stl01b(E. Williams) 2 Mr W. Weston's br q Linwood, aged, lOst 71b (T. Sheenan) 3 Whiting's b q Azim, aged, list 51b (owner), also ran. Betting : Even money Linwood, 2 to 1 against Azim, 3 to 1 against Minuet, 7 to 1 against Frivolity. Frivolity got away with the lead, but be fore going many yards she was supplanted by Azim, who took the hurdle first, Minuet and Linwood being close up. By the time tho stand was reached, Minuet had run into first position,' Azim being second, Frivolity and Linwood being four lengths in the rear. At the far side of tho course Frivolity was taken to tho front, and she led into the straight, closely pressed by Azim. At tho last jump the pair rose together, and it looked as if Azim would be returned the winner, but his rider got unseated and came down, leaving Frivolity to win as <*he liked. Linwood was done with about quarter of a mile from home. Time, 4min. Totalisator dividend, £S 6s. Onehung v Cup of 12530v5., second horse to receive 23aovs. and third horse osots. from the stakes. 1£ mile. Mr J. Booker's blk m Mystery, by The Painter— Fortuna, syrs, 7st (A. Byers) 1 Mr J. Allwell's eh m Victoria, 4yrs, 7st (Geo. Williams) 2 Mr Robertsons br in Mitraillcnso, 4yrs, 7st 101b (Sutherland) 3 J. Symes blk h Kalo, syrs, 7st 121b (Absoium), H. Kavanagh's eh q Bryan O'Lynn, syrs, 7st 21b (White), W. K. Carter's b q Alaric, aged, 7st 41b, including 21b overweight (Collins), also ran. Betting : 6 to 4 against M itrailleusc, 5 to 2 agiinst Mystery, 4 to 1 against Kalo, G to 1 the others. Mystery, Victoria, and Mitrailleuse were the first <.o move when the flag dropped, Alaric being last. After going a short distance, Mitrailleuse was pulled ba,ck, and passing tho stand for the first time, Mystery and Victoria led, the others in a bunch about three lengths away. Mystery forced the pace the whole distance round, and by the time tho stand was reached the second time, she still continued to lead. At the far side of the course, Sutherland took Mitrailleuse up, and Victoria also improved her position, but entering the straight Mitrailleuse was done with, and she was passed by Victoria. After this the race was never in doubt, for Mystery came on full of running, and won easily by a length. Alaric, Kalo, and Bryan O'Lynn were never prominent in any part of the race. Tptalisator dividend, £3 ss. The time taken by three timists was 2min. 59Jsec, but as the race was run at a good pace throughout, tho distance cannot be correct. The Hack Race of 10 soys., 1 mile, was won by Ashers Phoebe, ridden by T. Hodson, Chadwick's Fusee being second, and Chadwick's Tinman third. The other starters were Darkoy, Twilight, Disappointment, Lazarus, Little Nell, Flageolet, Little Tommy, Over the Hills, and Polly. The totalisator paid a dividend of £8 16s. The Pony Race of lOsovs., catch weights, one mile, was won on the post by Little Nell, Mignonette being second. Catch-'ein-if-you-can, King Quail, and Sweet William also ran. The totalisator dividend was £14. Novel Race of 25sovs. ; minimum weight, Sst; distance, 1 mile. Mr H. Linnell's Otara, Sst (Sutherland). . . 1 Mr D. Hasties Sultan, Sst (Geo. Derritt) 2 Mr J. Dores Moss Rose (late Jessie), Sst (McClusky) 3 J. Howard's Ida (Sst, T. Hodson), also ran. Otara was the favourite, and won easily. The winner was put up to auction, and bought in by his owner for £27. Totalisator dividend, £1 9s. Publicans' Purse Handicap of dOsovs. Distance, It mile. Mr J Booker's blk m Mystery, 7st (A. Byers) 1 Mr Robertsons br m Mitrailleuse, 4yrs, Sst 21bs (Sutherland) 2; Mr W. Walters's blk m Fishgirl, 4yrs, Bst(T. Taylor) 3 Alwell's eh m Victoria, 4yrs, 7st 21bs (Laing), and Whiting's b q Azim, aged, 6st 101b (White) also ran. Won by a length. Totalisator dividend, £2 Bs.
Sydney, Monday. The Sydney Turf Club's Meeting took place to-day. The following was the result of The Anniversary Handicap of 500sovs. 1 mile and 8 furlongs. Mr J. Cannon's blk q Merlin, 6yrs, Sst , 71bs 1 Caliban, 6st 91bs 2 Hon. J. White's b f lolanthe, 6st 121bs 3 Twenty-four horses started, and after a great race Merlin won by a nose. Time, 2mins, 2Gsecs.
