NATIVE LAND DISPUTE.
Wellington, January 17. Auckland readers will remember that some iimo ago Messrs Grice and Walker concluded the purchase of two blocks of native land at Paparu, near Cambridge, and that when they took possession of the land thero was some trouble with the former native owners, and that the latter were ejected by the new proprietors of the blocks in question. The j natives now seek satisfaction at law, and an action is set down for hearing on the 22nd instant, at the Supreme Court sittings in Auckland, in which the former owners are plaintiffs. The natives have subpcened tho Undersecretary of Lands and the Minister of the Native Department to produce papers and evidence in support of the plaintiffs' contention thatthe present occupiers haveno valid title to the block in question. The officials referred to, Messrs Elliott and Lewis, left last night per Rotomahana.
