BEEKEEPERS' ASSOCIATION.
At tho quarterly meeting of the Auckland Provincial Boekeepers 1 Association, held at the apiary of Mr Collins, Tuakau, on Saturday, 27th ult., the chair was occupied by Mr J. Brown, Vice-President. The Secretary stated that Mr H. Hayr, the Society's Auckland agent, reported that the leading grocers refused to pay the prico fixed by him for the honey, considering the margin of profit to be too small. Ho recommended the disposal of the honey by hawkers, which would bring the article under the notice of every household. The meeting cordially approved of tho suggestion, and the hope was expressed that all members of the Association would support the Committee by consigning their surplus honey to Mr Hayr, or of selling it to grocers and other storekeepers by adhering to the price fixed. Messrs Mays and Brown delivered interesting addresses on tho subject of planting for honey, advising farmers especially to grow those crops and plant those shelter trees which would prove a double sourco of profit by yielding honey. Dr. Dalziel exhibited an improved surplus case which he is using this season, and which met withthe thorough approval of the meeting as being worthy of attention of beekeepers who devote their stocks to the raising of comb-honey. A proposal to hold meetings at Bombay and Waiuku was talked ovor, but no resolution was come to beyond instructing the Secretary to make inquiries. The meeting closed with a substantial tea, after which the members visited Mr Collins's apiary and orchard, being regaled in the latter with peaches, cherries, plums, strawberries, gooseberries, i currants, and apples,
