COLONIAL EXHIBITIONS.

Wellington, December 19. You published a few days ago a cable circular from London having reference to the Colonial Exhibition to be held in London during the year 1886. The Government have fully considered the matters dealt with in that circular, and have cabled to the Secretary of the Exhibition Executive to the effect that the colony agrees to the guarantee of £5,000. Of course, it is exceedingly improbable that the colony will be called upon to pay the guarantee. The space allotted to New Zealand, however, is considered too little, and the Executive have been requested to extend it from seven thousand to ten thousand feet. Writing of exhibitions reminds me that Mr Challis, the Secretary of the Industrial Exhibition to be held here next year, has arrived, and is already getting his plans into shape. The site is a very central one, and by adding to the buildings secured for the purpose quite an imposing palace should be ready very soon. The Government have expressed their desire that a wool show should be a prominent feature in the Exhibition, and this suggestion is to be acted upon. In order that this idea should bear fruitful results, it will be necessary that wool-growers should save samples of this year's clip ior exhibition.
