MELANCHOLY AND FATAL ACCIDENT.
It is onr painful duty to record the death of n well known Te Aroha resident, Mr Walter A dair, who was killed on Thursday night by fulling down the shaft of the Prince Imperial mine, Thames, a di.Sr ta nee of some 570 feet. Deceased who was for a length of time book keeper at Mensrs T. W. Oar s butchery, and lutter'y •employed as assistant in Messrs Welle and Souttera store, had for some weeks past been, out of- 'employment and left hia home on the morning of Thursday .for- Thames by the s.s. Waitoa en route for Auckland in search of work. The aeeidentoceurred about 10 o'clock on the night in question, but mo far nothing is known as to what took deeeusod to the mouth of the shaft at that tune ,o ( f night, or in what way the accident occurred, as no one Raw it take place.
