Handicap." 1 mile and threequarters. — Plausible, 1 ; Lord Clifden, 2 ; Hilltop, 3. Eleven started. Won by a length. Time, 3mins. S^secs. Canterbury Plate ; 2 miles ; weight for age. — Commotion, 1 ; Malua, 2 ; David, 3. Only these three started. Commotion led from start to finish, and won easily by ten lengths. A private telegram received in town stales that while Necklace was being taken on to the Riccarton racecourse yesterday morning she twisted her fetlock. Owing to the injury, Mr Marshall has been compelled to scratch her for all engagements at the meeting.
