The fcecond day's racing in connection with the Victoria Amateur Turf Club's Spring Meeting took ploce to-day, at Caulfield. There was a very large attendance, including the Governor, Sir H. B. A capital start was effected, Rapid at once going to the front, and he 'led past the Stand, followed by Yately, Verne, Battailous, Lavington, Blink Bonny, Coulston, Hastings, Signor, and Claptrap, then came Lord Wilton, Vergy, and Bend dOr, just clear of Capri, Martini-Henry, Despot, Malua, and Agent bringing up the rear. Opposite the Stewards' Stand Signor fell. Yately joined Rapid at the turn, and the pair raced round the turn and up the hill, with Helene, Vergy, and Battailous at their heels, just clear ot Claptrap, Martini-Henry, Despot, and Agent falling further to the rear. Along the back of the course Yately was going with great vigour and assumed the lead, Rapid resigning second place in favour of Helene and Battailous. Martini-Henry had by this time fallen further in the rear. Passing the sod wall, Rapid made a second effort and joined Yately and Helene, tho pace being tearifa'c. At the turn Fryingpan and Coulstoun made a resolute effort to get up, but failed, and Lord Wilton and Blink Bonny assumed forward positions. Turning into the straight, Yately was done with, and Blink Bonny ran through and took the lead. Rapid here made anothor desperate effort to get up, but retired at the distance post, and Lord Wilton, Hastings, and Vergy challenged Blink Bonny, who, however, held the I lead, and came in a easy winner by two lengths, Lord Wilton being next, a length in front of Vergy, Malua fourth, Claptrap, Hastings, Helene, Yately, Fryingpan, Norfolk, Colstoun, Despot, Capri, and Martini-Henry next, Agent being last. Time, 2mins 42£secs. The betting at the post was 3 to 1 against Vergy, 6 to 1 Colstoun, 10 to 1 Martini Henry, 12 to 1 Helene and Hastings, 33 to 1 Blink Bonny.

Martini-Henry Scratched. Melbourne, Monday. Martini- Henry has been scratched for all engagements at the V.R.C. Spring Meeting. It will be remembered that when cabling the result of the Caulfield Guineas here, Reuter omitted to send the name of the third horse. From Southern papers to hand to-day, we learn that Helene occupied that position. Charmer has been scratched for all engagements at the C.J.C. Spring Meeting.
