Cambridge, Last Night. At a meeting of the Piako County Council last night, the question of management of the Te A r oha Tramway was discussed at considerable length. Crs Cliepmell and Gould attacked themanagement generally. Cr Firth supported the management and attributed the non-succesa to other causes, lie «a id more mines than were at present working weie expected to contribute materially, anil other batteries were expected to be erected. Again the Company's battery had been guaranteed to crush 500 tons weekly, whereas it only crushes 300. One of the best mines on the field, the Eureka, after the expenditure of a large amount of inonoy, including £500 for wire tramway to connect with the main line, had been found unpayable. This •alone made a vast difference in the traffic Chepmell Raid the present charge of 4s (Jd was prohibitory. Firth said had the thing turned out as expected the charge would have been about la 3d. It was then agreed that Government should be asked to instruct an engineer to report on the tramway and working.
