MINING NEWS. (From the " Coromandel Mail.")

MakieiU.l. — This claim will start crushing on Monday next if possible. The manager intended to have started a week ago but could not obtain firewood. (*ood payable .stuff i* coming to hand both from the main and branch leader just now. The mine looks first-rate, and likoly to do well for years. Homeward Bound.— Tho tributers are taking out a block of small leader, which is expected to pay handsomoly. Matawai.— The .stuff in the paddock is slowly accumulating, and^if.the road is not soon open to the battery there will be sufficient to keep it going for months. Good payable stuff is coming from the southern end. Vizard's Claim. — The manager is getting some very good stone from a small leader running north and south. The general stuff is good with a few specimens occasionally. Matawai No. 2.— The manager is getting some first-rate stone from a leader about eighteen inches thick. It is a fine solid body, and likely to be very valuable. The two large reefs which traverse this mine havo had very little work done on them at present, but are Avell worth thoroughly testing. Union Beach.— The manager has started with his full force on the branch leader lately discovered, and, no doubt, we shall soon hear of more rich stone coming to hand. The directors are somowhat slow in lotting the tributes. In the meantime the mon are getting impatient. Corby. — Several tons of good crushing material is lying ready for crushing, and the manager intends putting it through tho mill as soon as possible. Kapanoa. — The intermediate level has just tapped Scottys reef which looks a fino body of stone. Tho men are confident of getting gold shortly. The works in other parts of tho mine are going on with vigour. Tokatka. — There is no chango in tho low level. The ground is not quite so free as was oxpected, but good progress is boing made. Royal Oak.— The ground still continues hard in the bottom level. The reef is looking fair. Queen o* 1 England. — Tho ground has got quite hard in the drive to cut the reef, progress thereforo being slow. Success. — A little gold has been got lately in the stopes. The reef and country look decidedly bettor.
