Loxdox, July 12, (j p.m.— The match was resumed this morning in fine weather, and before a large of poople. The Australians, witli 7 wickets down, continued their ih-;L innings. Midwinter, not out ot the pievious day, only added S to his {-core, when he vas caught. Palmer and Spoftbrth made a short stand, bnt the lattei succumbed when he had contributed 13. Bo) le joined [ Palmer, but was soon bowled, and the innings closed, Palmer carrying hi> bat tor 14. The Australians' total was 182, or 87 ahead of their opponents. The Englishmen then went in for their second innings, which lasted until time was called, when they had scored ISO with 9 wickets down, the match thus ending in a diaw. For the Englishmen, most of the batsmen secured double figures, the following being the highest scorers : — Grace, b, 31 ; Barlow, b, 25 ; Steele, c, IS ; Lucas, b, 24 ; Shrewsbury, not out, 14 ; OBrien, c, 20. The bowling of the Australians throughout the afternoon was excellent, and dead on the wicket.
