BLUB RIBBON MEETING,
A Gospkl Temperance Meeting was held in the Public Hall at Te Arolia, on Tuesday evening last. The Rev. T. J. Wills in the chair. The meeting was opened by singing Hymn 37, San'cey's seleclion, which was followed by prayer by the Rev. Mr Melntos.i (Presbyterian) and the reading of a portion of Scripture by the Chairman. The Chairman read an address by the President of the Ceinral Committee in Auc%lnnd, and read and commented on some of the rnK's of the Blue Ribbon Army s ! io\ug fiat the wh >le movement was based on Gospel principles. The Rev. Mi Barley gay< j an instructive address from a sci in ntitic standpoint, and during the evening read " <''ie Northern Uobler," uy Tennyson. B -fore the conclusion of tiie meeting the Chairman urged upon all present to join in tiie good and great work of saving the Wwrld from the slavery and degradation ami ruin occasioned by drunkenness. He stated that it was his firm believe tiiat in twenty years the liquor traffic would be almost, if not altogether, a thing of the past, and it was the privilege and duty of all Christians to help in bringing this very desirable state or affairs about. (Several took the pledge.
