Gisborne, May 12. At a meeting of the principal residents held this morning, the feeling was that all candidates should give way tor Sir Julius Vogel, and it was decided to call a public meeting to-night to see what the public think. Mossbb Lock and Gannon were present, and expressed their willingness to stand o-it if Mr Rees was also agreeable. Mr Rees left for Auckland yesterday, and is being telographed to.
