Melbourne, Friday.— lt has transpired that the Oriental Bank is indebted to the Victorian Government for £195,000 on loan account, £155,000 on fixed deposits, £1,400 on current account, and £30,000 in drafts. Mr Service, Premier, lias written the associated banks contending that they are all jointly liable for any deficiency in tho public account that may arise by the failure of the Oriental Bank.
