NEW ZEALAND UNIVERSITY SENATE. Nelson, March 1.

Professor Brown, M.A., of the University College, Auckland, has been elected to the vacant fellowship of the New Zealand University, the other candidate having withdrawn. The Senate last night appointed several committees, and agreed that students of medicine who were registered in 1883 at Otago University should be accepted as having been registered in the New Zealand University.

At Kaiapoi lately, a letter containing a cheque for £75 addressed to a Miss Hansen was by mistake delivered to a male miscreant with the same surname, who coolly appropriated the money. He is to be arrested for larceny.
