HIKURANGI HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

TnE annual show of the Hikuranga Horticultural Society took place on the 16th inst. in the school-room, and the weather being fine, there was a largo* turn-out of visitors. The quality of the exhibits was uniformly excellent, and the entries numerous. The black and white grapes shown by Mr E. O. Weaver were a splendid lot. Potatoes were a good show — thoseof Mr Sissons, which took the prize, being deservedly admired ; while the onions shown by Mr Neish were excellent specimens. There were in all 57 classes, and in all of these, with the exception of eleven, there was competition. The following are the awards of the judges : — Tomatoes, W. Boult ; cucumbers, Freeman ; peas, H. Phillips ; kidney beans, Reed ; scarlet runners, Thos. Wakelur ; cabbage, Hutchison ; collection of potatoes, R. Sisson ; turnips, Mrs Alderton ; long carrots, Boult j shorthorn carrots, Reed ; beetroot, W. Boult ; potato unions, Carruth ; seed onions, Neish ; pickling onions, Neish ; round white potatoes, Mrs J. Davis ; round red potatoes, white kidney, and red kidney potatoes, Hanlon ; vegetable marrow, W. Boult ; pumpkins, Carruth ; custard marrow, Ramsbottom ; parsley, Mrs Johnston ; green corn, Freeman ; white and black grapes, E. 0. Weaver ; peaches, E. Boult ; purplo plums, Mrs Griffin ; yellow plums, R. Sissons ; nectarines, Hanlon ; dessert apples, J. Carter ; cooking apples, Mrs Griffin ; dessert pears, D. Sissons; cooking pears, Mair; lomons, Carruth ; water-melon, E. Boult ; green walnuts, Carruth ; quinces, R. Sissons ; blackberries, W. Carter; strawberries, E. Boult j rhubarb (three sticks), Hanlon ; oranges, E. Boult ; best collection of fruit of ten dishes, Hanlon ; hand bouquet of flowers, Mrs Griffin ; table bouquet of flowers, E. 0. Weaver ; fresh butter (lib roll), Mrs Phillips.
