The polling for the district of Sehvyn took place to-day, with the following result : —

Majority for Mr Wakefield, 163. The total of the votes polled at last election was GIS. The groatest excitement prevailed. Timaiut, Friday. There is general satisfaction at Mr Wakefield's victory at Sehvyn.

The Major's " feeler " about Federation lias been very quickly withdrawn. It is now stated that he will not ''stump" the country on that topic, but will deal with general politics.
