The shooting of! apples from the head and coin from the hand was performed repeatedly with complete success. A slight accident, however, occurred on the thiid time of shotting the apple. Mr \V# 8. Pulford, manager of the Intercolonial Mews and Advei tiding Agem-p and agent for The Auoha News, agiced to stand with an apple on his head and did so with great coolness. Just as the shot was fired it is supposed he braced himself up a little, though not perceptibly resulting in the hill gi a/ing his scalp, and inflicting a nasty though not serious wound. The result of the tests established Payne's extraordinary skill as a marksman.
