At the Board of Education to-day a telegram was received from Wellington stating- that the building- grant for the year would amount to £'JGB2. It was shewn that the Board required. £12,021 to meet present liabilities in contracts, grants, and. overdrafts, and that reckoning all sources of revenue there would be a deiieit of £13,481 after receiving the grant to supply urgent nee'J. The Board resolved to communicate the state of affairs to the Minister of Education. The following Waikato boys are successful winners of scholarships : — Richard Maclaurin, Hautapu, 794 marks ; John Gwynne, Hamilton, 854 marks.
