REPORT ON THE WAIORONGOMAI TRAMWAY.

At the last meeting of the Piako County (Jouncil the report of the Tram way Committep, was sub nittecl. It was follows : -(1) The Tramway at c Aroha has now been at work seven weeks. (2) Considering the extraordinary difficulty n which had to be grappled with, the tramway has gone to work well. At one or two points .some neecessary alterations were required. These have been completed during the holidays. (3) The locomotive will be at work on the first engine grade in a few days. (4) The expenses of working the line have been heavier than will now be necessary, both in numbei of men and daily pay The men employed have been reduced to the lowest number consist n nt with efficiency. The Committee recommend that e'ght shillings (8s) per day of eight hours be the daily pay for competent hands. (5) By way of further reducing cost of transit, the Committee rccomm nd that four active plough horses be purch sjrl, to co , not over £15 each ; that Mr J. fc>. Buck-land bo authorised to purchased them, and deliver same to Mr Adams tramway manager, at Waiorongoin li, not later than Saturday night next (6) The Committee recommend that all goods, mining reij.si.Mtt^s of every description, be
