It would appeal i'nmi the report of the proceedings of the last meeting of the Piako County Council, that Messrs Stacey and Comiskey have written to that body, stating their intention" to erect a battery, at Waiorongomai, and asking the Council to' state if it would construct a siding continuing the first level grade of the present tramway for a distance of about three qunrters-of-a-mife, and also, if tl.is request was granted, to fix the rate of hauhvge over the said lino. TlO Council there .were not sufficient particulars before the Council mm to tho nature of the work required, and f wis decided fo acknowledge receipt of tho present letter, ;¥nd ask the applicants to furnish further particulars as to site of proposed h.'itti'ry and estimated co^t ol; the r;>qu3sted tia'mv.iy.
