REV. MR FERGUSON AND THE PRESSYTERY. Indignation at Te Aroha.
The usual monthly meeting of the Presbyterian Church of Te Aroha was held on Tuesday evening last. After the ordinary business had been transacted a report of the meeting of the Auckhmd Presbytery was read, wherein it was st.ted that, the Rev. Mr Ferguson was to be moved to Tauranga. The information was received with feelings of Mirprise and indignation. Mr Ferguson had, it appears, written in a most straightforward manner to the Presbytery on behalf of the Paeroa Church Committee, and had stated the plain facts of the case referred to in the Presbytery proceedings us " the Parroa dispute;" A copy of this letter Was read and considered by- the committee, but they found nothing' in it to warrant the re- ' marks passed on him by the Revs. Monro, Runciman and FraW. r lhe committee are prepared to uphold Mr Ferguson in, the' action he has taken in the Paeroa affair, and are also resolved- to have an understanding with tlie ( Presbytery, as thpy do not relish th^ remarks emanating from that body, condemning their minister because he has given them the true version of a matter which should never have been allowed to occupy the time of the Presbytery. At the meeting, of the 'Presbytery re-, furred to several clergymen had churac-. terwed a letter from Mr Ferguson to' th?
