By arrival of the Penguin from Fiji, we liavo files of the " Times " and " Argus "to Nov. 28. We extract the following items :— The timber trade at Levuka is very active In addition to several oargoes of New Zealand timber recently to band, the Hobart Town barque Guiding Star has just completed discharging a, cargo of hardwood, and haa gone on to Suva to land a moiety there, while quickly succeeding her came the American vessels Newsboy and Vega, bringing together nearly 1,000,000 feet of timber of various descriptions for the two ports. His Excellency the Governor was to leave early this month for the Australian colonies. A seaman named John Grant, a native of Scotland, belonging to the barquentine Waitemata, was drowned whilst bathing in the harbour at Suva. Two Fijians,' who wore suspected of having been the perpetrators of the late murder at Rewa, have been committed for trial by the magistrate of the district. , H.M.S. Miranda took her departure for Samoa on Prince of Wales's Birthday. General Sir Frederick Haines was a passenger by the Miranda, and the object of that gentleman's visit was to get an insight into the labour trade. The labour schooner Sea Breeze has just returned from another successful trip to the Solomon Islands. The Sea Breeze, it will bo remembered, left Suva on the 7th of August last, and has returned to port with her full complement of foreign labour. This trip is, probably without exception, the most successful one made this soason.
