Owing to the heavy rains and storm on Wednesday,*^ anci -'tliis storm has' been the mpst severe known by any of the inhabitants of this district, the tramway work have substained some serious damage. The damage, considering the severity -of ,th,e storms and fresh, has not lieen as severe as was dreaded by people .here." The Butler's Spur grade with all its large embankments and heavy fillings has escaped with but trifling injury. Mr. Adams reports. A slip has taken place at the bottom of the Fern spur grade. No. I temba'akment or engine grade has been washfed %i\v'ay owing to the smallness of the culvert. /A number of small landslips have taken place between the top of the Ferri spur and Butler's Spur, but no very. serious damage is done by them. The- most important injury has been caused to the' tunnel by an extension of -the slip 1 / which ' has closed both ends. The whole damage will be repaired by the «nd oi the coining week if the weather is fine. ,-
