GOODWILL SUGGESTIONS FOR THE COMING YEAR.

(To the Editor.) Sir,-—How * best to propagate the feeling of goodwill amongst a people is oftimes a matter of some difficulty Clubs of various kinds are formed on broad lines, and apart from the Christian Church exert an influence of good comradeship. The inauguration of the local Young Men's Club is a step in the right direction, * and it certainly deserves our practical sym_ pathy. Music is perhaps one of the best centres around which most men of diverse religious and political views will tender their allegiance. Music is said to be the latest of the Arts (bestowed on' humanity, a channel of expression of endless variety. Music is said to express itself in the beauty of the landscape, the colours of the rainbow, in our ideals of decoration of our gardens with flowers, the furnishing of our homes, the decoration of our persons —all harmoniously done express music This brings us to the thought, why not inaugurate the New Year with the formation of a Male Choir % in Taihape? Those who have listen, ed to such chairs as the Male Choir of New Plymouth, of Hawera, and Wanganui, speak in the highest terms ■of their. quality in the rendition of sacred, secular and operatic scores. The above named male choirs are about to form a union for mutual help and friendly competition. Shall Taihape stand out? or. rather, shall we gather our talent, of. which there is plenty, and good voices of all ages? These would help to perpetuate that feeling of goodwill, cementing together men of all shades of opinion, causing them to emulate the principle of Harmony in their every, day life, thus helping £b build for that Peace and Goodwill to- all men. A VISITOR.
