EXECUTION OF THORN. ATI CKLAND, This Day, I Thorn, who was convicted of the murder of William Eyre on August 24th, was hanged at the Mount Eden Gaol this morning. On the scaffold, lie thanked the warders for their j kindness, but he said the pplice had f | treated him unjustly. He added: ''l did not commit this miirder, and; j I don't know who did."

Thorn also said on the scaffold: "I am'prepared to meet' my God. Ihave made my peace with Him, and am prepared to meet Him." When informed that the sentence was about to be carried out, he said: "Right oh.'' Death was instantaneous.
