ST. MARGARET’S PARISH SCHOOL
ANNUAL .PRIZE-GIVING. Owing to the change in the weather all the elaborate arrangements for having the school function on the lawn had to be changed and at the last moment piano, etc. had to carried back to the ischoolroom. The seating accommodation was very limited ana the hall was taxed to its utmost. The proceedings began with a representation by the children of ofu time folk dances ef various nationalities and were heartily enjoyed by participants and onlookers. Christmas Carols wore sung and the prize-giving follov/ed them.
The introducing the Mayoress, Mrs Joblin > asked the audience to express their pleasure to her for so kindly coming to present the prizes, and the suggestion was followed by hearty applause. The Kindergarten children each received a Christmas present. In Lower Std. I. Teddy Robinson was first. Upper Std. 1. Lambert Mayor and Rene Stent tied. Std. 11. Richard Cleaver and Gwen Gardner were first, Leonard Cleaver and Mildred Mayor third. Std. 111. Wilfred Stent 1. Std. IV. John Wrightson 1. Std. VI. Monica Stent proficiency certificate.
RELIGIOUS KNOWLEDGE PRIZES. Lower Std.: Gwen Gardner and Richard Cleaver 1. Lizzie Cleaver and Majorie Dymoek 2,. Mildred Mayor 3. Upper Std.: Monica Stent 1, John Wrightson 2‘ Wilfrid Stent 3. Conduct Richard Cleaver, Iwa Barton, Eileen Nicholl^. Perseverance; Monica Stont } John Wrightson. A vote of thanks was accorded Mrs Joblin by acclamation. Afternoon tea was provided at the end of the function.
