OHUTU NOTES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The Ohutu School Concert held last night proved a great the schoolroom being much too small to accommodate all those who turned out and many had to be satisfied with standing in the a great pity that we have not got a hall here for our entertainments, but I suppose we will have to be thankful for what we have these times. Had it been a fine night I think there would have been a few more standing Nevertheless, everyone there enjoyed the evening and the parts taken by the little ones were just splendid and caused much laughing and clapping, every item being encored. Much praise is due to the teachers, MisS Mead and Miss' Pile, for the manner in which they had everything arranged for it is only about three weeks since it was first mentioned about having a and since then they must have spared neither thqpe nor patience with the children, for there are about sixty names' on the roll, and I think every child took a part. The'erecting of the stage and the decorating was also done by the children. Following is a list of the items; National Anthem; Opening Speech, Phil Ashton; Song ’ Primer Classes; Song, “Evening V Kitty Penning; Recitation, Mary Belk; Song “Santa Claus,” Std. 1 and 2; Song, “Moon Boati” Phyllis Olliver; Lullaby, Junior Girls; Duet ? “Owl and Cat’ * KTSSfers G. McGlashan a: >o E. Edlin; Recitation, Jack Campbell; Song ? “The Old Umbrella, V Junior Pupils; Song, “Flower Girl,” Mavis Ashton; Recitation Leslie Riley; 7 Song “Good Nighty” Primer Classes; Song “Over the Downs,’ ’ Senior Pupils; Dance Nellie Ashtdh. a 7 A “Dame Durden’s School? ’ in which the senior pupils took part, brought the programme to a , finish. / Other ifcms - weT»"Conti!butefi as follows: A pianoforte solo by Mrs Linton wrich was v&ry much appreciated, and songs by Miste Campbell and Messrs Rimmer, Mooney and Gumming. Mrs Prime and Mr Ashton presided at the piano. The sum I>t £6 9/ which was taken at ffie door, and the proceeds of ticket safes go towards prizes for tne children.
