PUBLIC MEETING.
FAREWELL TO MR JAS. THURSTON. At a public meeting held last night, the Mayor presiding, it was decided to tender a farewell to Mr and Mr® Jas. Thurston at the Town Hall on Thursday next at 8 p.m. The entertainment is to take the form of a conversazione, during which a presentation to the guests of 5 the evening will be* made from the townspeople. The drawing up of the programme as far as the musical items 'are concerned was left in the hands of Mr anft Mrs Peyton, and an additional committee consisting of the members of the Borough Council, the members of the D.H.S. Committee, the executive members of the Bowling Club, and Messrs Evans and Swindells ex-school committee chairmen. Messrs J. Ryan and W. V. Kelsall, representing the Rugby Union, and A. Wilson, representing the school staff, were appointed to carry out the other work. This committee will meet at the Mayor’s Room at 8 p.m. on Monday next, when a full meeting Is requested, a® time is short. Any of the committee members were authorised to receive subscriptions.
