YOUNG MEN'S SOCIAL CLUB.
The members of the above Club had a most enjoyable time at ■Mr A. E. Thompson’s residence last evening. Mr and Mrs Thompson had gone to no end of trouble to make the young people feel at home, and needless to say they responded to the homeliness of the affair. About 28 people turned up, including a number of ladies. Songs ere rendered 'ey "Miss Knox, Messrs B. B. Smith, J. Jameson, B. Yenner and ff. Pascoe, a ’duct by Mrs Miller and Mr A. RT Thompson, a* cornet solo and accompaniments by Mr Timbs and an item by Eev. W. Lea. The accompaniments were played by Mrs Thompson, Mr P. Burge, and Mr V. Jameson. An item of the evening was a bookguessing competition, and there were some very original and clever characters representing different title®, the result being a win for the ladles by Mrs Joll and for the gents by Mr JolL
A vote of thanks to Mr and Thompson with acclamation and the singing of “For They Are Jolly Goo® Fallows, ’ ’ and the members were unanimous in agreeing that they had had a Jolly pleasant evening. The function closed with the singing of “Anld Lang Syne.f’
