THE PUBLIC HEALTH.

WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. Officers of the Health. Department have been conferring in Wellington this week, and have met the Minister of Health (Hon. C. J. Parr) on the e administration of the new Health Act. The otject of this conference was to secure harmonious and uniform working of the new provisions, and especially to carry out the changes in relation to local authorities without friction. One of the most important changes is the removal.of sanitary inspectors from the control of Hospital Boards. It was noticed during the influenza epidemic that there was a good deal of of overlapping and consequent Waste of time and effectiveness, because borough councils had" no control over the sanitation of their areas, this being a responsibility ojthe Health" Department, and care is /to be taken to helpfully co-operate ▼ with the local bodies.
