NO EMBARGO ON HIDES.
AUCKLAND, Nov. 24
No embargo on the importation of horse hides, cattle hides and sheepskins from New Zealand has been imposed by the Canadian Government, despite the cabled announcement to that effect. Mr. W. A. Beddoe, Canadian Trade Commissioner, has been in communication with the Ottawa Government, and as a result issued the following statement to-day: "With reference to the cable dispatch from Ottawa dated November 19, stating that the Canadian Government had prohibited the importation of horse hides, cattle hides and sheepskins from Europe, Asia, Africa, South American, New Zealand and Australia, with the object of preventing the introduction of animal disease into Canada, the, Canadian Trade Commissioner has communicated with his Government, and has receive da reply, stating that the importation of hides and sheepskins from New Zealand to Canada is not j prohibited if accompanied by the usual ; certificate.'' j WELLINGTON, This Day. : The Government lias been advised j that the Canadian Government has not | prohibited the importation of hides from New Zealand if the articles are I accompanied by the usual certificate.
