THE MISSING JUBILEE.
AUCKLAND, Nov. 23. Early this morning the New Zealand Government steamer Tutanekai left for Niue and surrounding islands with a view to searching for the schooner Jubilee. The steamer is to call in at Whangarei 'this afternoon for bunker- coal, and will leave again this evening, adn from these the Tntanekai will proceed to Pshyaft Island, which lies between the Minerva Reefs and Niue. The Beveridge Reefs will be next visited. At Niue stores wiljf be landed* for the residents of the islands. Thence the Tutanekai will leave for Vavau, in the Tongan Group, and so return to Auckland. She will probably visit the Kermadecs on her way back. Niue Island has already been searched by H.M.S. Veronica, and the Kermadecs by the Hinemoa. The Tutanekai, which is expected. tO'he away about three weeks, took with her Mr. E. B. Vaile, brother-in-law of Mr, Head, one of the passengers on the JubiPoe. and Mr. Champion, son of Captain W. Champion, master of the vessel. The Jubilee left Auckland for Niue .on August 15, and was last heard of when she left Kawau Island, where she. stoppsed for a few days. She has the following passengers on board; Mrs Hallen, Messrs Hallen, Hoad. Evans and three natives, who all resided at Niue. She also had a crew of nine.
