PILFERERS ARRESTED. SYDNEY, This Day. During last week the police made one hundred arrests, recovering property of a total value of £3OOO. BOLSHEVIST DEMONSTRATION. BRISBANE, This Day. A Bolshevist demonstration in the Domain to celebrate the anniversary of the Russian Revolution, passed off without incident, though fiery outbursts at times threatened to bring trouble from soldiers. One of the latter knocked off an Irishman’s hat during the singing of the National Anthem, but the presence of a large body of police ensured order generally. BIG RAILWAY SMASH. PERTH. This Day. A train of fifty-four trucks, laden with sleepers, weighing’ six hundred tons, was derailed when going down a steep grade at Wokalup, twentyseven miles from Bunbury. Eleven persons were killed.
