METEORLOGICAL NOTES.

The rainfall for the month of. October was 4.92 Inches. There were'l6 : days with rain - and the maximum fall was 2.37 inches on the 25th. The average fall for the corresponding month of the previous 16 'years is 3.88 inches, and for October of last year it was 1.66 inches. The mean maximum temperature, in the shade was 57.4 deg., the extreme being 68 deg. on the 29th. The mean minimum temperature, in the shade was 42.5 deg., the extreme being 35 deg. on the Ist. The mean terrestrial radiation (temperature on tho : grass) was 41.5 deg., the minimum being 32 deg. on the 6th. The mead earth temperature at 2ft. was 50.8 deg., ranging from 48.1 deg. on the 2nd to - 53.1 dog. on the 31st.
