RIFLE SHOOTING.
SYDNEY, Oct. 30.
The last stage of the King's prize, (800 yards and 900 yards) was fired in a heavy, erratic wind. A dull, even light was rendered' worse by clouds of dust. The conditions proved fatal to the chances of those more prominent in the early rounds. The : winner was J, Face (Sydney) with aj score of 32,7. Porritt (Lithgow) was second- with 326. At 800 yards Porritt's ftftal was 25.7 and Face's 254. Face at the 900 yards put on thirteen bulls and two fours, just beating Porritt with the last shots. Richardson (Britain) made .320. New Zealanders wene not among the first flight. Besides winning the one hundred, pounds prize in the King's Match, Face won an extra hundred pounds for using the TSTottio barrel, Morsefield got into twenieth place with 314, and Roots and West each made 313. All won four pounds.
WATERSIDE TROUBLE. BRISBANE, This day. The watersiders are taking a ballot on the question -whether there should be a total cessation of work of discharging and loading all overseas vessels, whether bound to or from the United Kingdom. It is stated that the ballot will be taken throughout the Commonwealth. MELBOURNE, This day. Mr S. In the House of « Representtaives, Mr Hughes, replying to a question, said he had no intention of opening Australian markets to Germans, but Germany would get a fair deal.
