BANQUET TO SOLDIERS.
TOWN HALL, FRIDAY. The citizens of Taihape have practically completed all the arrangements in connection with the banquet to and re-union of retured soldiers, which is to be held! in the Town Hall this evening at 8.30. All returned soldiers are invited, and tickets for civilians may be had from Messrs F_ Mrrlow, E. McLaughlan, G. W. Wrightson, S. Dunbar, or J. R. Ounnlnghauie, at £1 1/ each. So far, invitations have been given to over 300 returned soldiers, and the majority of these &'e likely to be present: Officers representing the various military and other departments will be in attendance, and the function promises to be one of the greatest of its kind over held on the Main Trunk line. Returned soldiers should apply to Secretary R.S.A., Times Office, for tickets of admission. •
Among those present will be Colonel Melville, of the Defence Department, Brigadier-General Melclrum, and Messrs R. W. Smith and W. Glenn, M's.P., G. Fache (Commissioner of Pensions) and C. Batten (Repatriation Department).
