allow the strike noflce to.expire on

ONDO'N, Oct. 14

The official ballot figures were: For acceptance of the datum 181,428; aaginst 635.195. The Executive recommended, in face of the ballot, that the strike notices be allowed to expire on Saturday, and 154 voted for the recommendation twenty-seven against. It is understood that the miners' delegates rejected the Northumberland amendment to refer the whole wages claim to arbitration. AVIATION. GENERAL TRENCHARD'S VIEWS. Received 10,20 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 14. General Trenchard, addressing the Air Conference, said it was obvious tfiat an air force on the financial basis which we in peace time could afford could not create the reserve personnel and maintain the stock of material requis'te for war. They must be dependent-SH the civil development of commercial aviation, and co-Oper-ate in a manner something akin to the co-operation between the na*y and mercantile marine.
