BRITISH COAL CRISIS. THE OWNERS’ OFFER. - STRIKE NOTICES POSTPONED. LONDON, October 1. The coal owners finally offered ashilling rise for a 240 million ton output, eighteenpence for 244 millions, It is officially stated that the miners have postponed the strike notices until the 16th inst,, to enable a ballot to be taken thereon on the 11th. LONDON, October 3. Mr Higginbottom Flintshire, the owners’ representative at the coal conference in London, states that the miners’ executive agree with the owners to recommend acceptance of the latter’s offer. ANOTHER TROUBLE. MORE WAGES DEMANDED. Shipbuilding and engineering trades are asking for an advance of sixpence per hour for journeymen and an equivalent for pieceworkers, representing a total of ten millions sterling.
