<v ■ - THE RIGA CONFERENCE. DEATH OF SOVIET DELEGATEReceived 9.5 a.m. RIGA. Sept. 26. General Pelivanoff, Soviet delegate, died during a session of the Conference, which has adjourned till Monday. SURPRISE AT PEACE CONFER ENCE. RUSSIANS' MODERATE DEMANDSRIG, Sept.. 24. The Russian delegation caused a surprise by announcing that the Moscow Government wa s prepared to abandon a number of claims, including reduction of the Polish army, surrender of war material and cessation of war industries. Negotiations after that took a more amicable turn. A committee was appointed to arrange details of the armistice. WARSAW, Sept. 26.
The Soviet's representatives at Riga did not object to the Polish proposals for basis of discussion, including mutual guarantees for the inviolability of frontiers, non-interference with each other's domestic affairs, and renunciation of claims for war expenses and damage.
