DISTRICT NEWS.

OHUTU. (From Our Own Correspondent.) We have had some very nice showers of rain this week which were badly needed. Now everything is looking well, and if the frosts keep off there will soon be any amount of feed.

The Butter factory will soon be in full swing, and there is every promise of a good season, and as there is a new manager this season at it-he factory we- wish him luck. A party of euchre players from Ohutu journeyed to "Utiku on Tuesday night to try and bring back the cup which was won here by Utiku on the previous Tuesday night; but Ohutu were not successful, >the home team winning by 29 points. Utiku holds the cup for the year, but it is to b© hoped that the Ohutu team will turn the tables next, season. Although beaten every one enjoyed the evening's outing and the supper which was provided by the Utiku ladies was very much appreciated.. I think something ought to be done to the Ttjhite bridge between Utiku and Ohutu, for after rain it is in a very bad state, as there seems to be no get-away for the water. I hear the Butter Factory is starting a' motor lorry on the road next month, and doing away with the horses and brake for carting the cream., and butter to and from the factory.
