STURT PEA CULTIVATION.
To the Editor,
Sir, —lu compliance with your request, I have much pleasure in forwarding you, my experience in the successful of iihe "Clianth'us Dampieri" (Stmt's Deserr; Pea) and where I procured the seed. Besides the production of lasfseasdn. the plant was successfully grown in Napier, (twenty years ago) during my residence there, and both then and last season, I obtained 'the seed from Messrs. Arthur Yates and Co.
Before sowing, the seeds should (have very hot water put on them, in a cup, and be left in the water, say, all night; they may then be put in the open ground, where they are "o remain permanently, or sowed singly in small pots, and when from two to three inches high, or more, bo care-
fully removed from the pot into the ground, without disturbing the roots*
In this, particular care must be exorcised, as they Tesent interference of any sort with their roots, I would suggest, the ground in which they are planted be deeply trenehed, and raised anything from a foot or more, as being of a creeping habit, they then show to better advantaga." The ground should not be rich, and somewhat of a dry situation. The main thing is leaving the roots undisturbed and weeding with great care. —Siberia. A, P. SHEATH, Siberia Station.
